Thoughts on Javascript: Introduction

This series of posts will talk about the basics of programming in Javascript. Eventually there may be more complex examples and functionality discussed, but the goal of this series is to help programmers who are new to Javascript, learn the basics of Javascript from an object oriented background.

About me:
I graduated from RIT in 2011 with a Bachelors in Game Design and Development. While in college, I learned a lot about Java, C#, Actionscript 3.0, and even a little bit of C++. Since then, I’ve worked at a game company specializing in Facebook games (lots of Actionscript 3.0) and then moving into the mobile space and web space in general (Javascript, HTML5, CSS3). Currently I’m working at WGBH as a web developer. I’ve got only a little more than a year of Javascript, HTML5, and CSS3 under my belt and don’t claim to know everything, or even most things, so if there is anything wrong with any posts, please let me know and I’ll do my best to correct it. I’d like this series of posts to become a conversation about beginning techniques in Javascript, helping new Javascript programmers understand the joys and pitfalls of Javascript as a language.
